The Election Commissioner announces dates for the voting of the next Chitues and Kalon Tripa
According to a report which came out yesterday in the official internet site www.tibet.net of the Central Tibetan Administration, the Election Commissioner of the CTA declared the dates for voting for the next members of the Tibetan Parliament and Kalon Tripa (Chairman of the cabinet).
The Election Commissioner Mr. Jamphel Choesang announced that the preliminary date for voting will be on Sunday, 3rd October 2010 and the final date for voting for the next members of Tibetan Parliament-in-exile and the Kalon Tripa will be on Sunday, 20th March 2011.
With this it is clear that the voting (preliminary as well as final) for both the members of the Tibetan Parliament-In-Exile and the Kalon Tripa will be conducted on the same day, making it easier for the voters.
Mr. Jamphel Choesang further said that the dates for the registration of the voters will begin from 18th June to 18th August 2010. He further added that by 18th August all the registered list of the voters should reach the office of the Election Commission.
He also said that a registered voter can vote at any polling areas if he/she can present a required proof of the registration and carries the necessary papers with him/her.
Having acknowledged the private initiatives to educate the public about the significance of electing a right candidate for the Kalon Tripa, Mr. Choesang clarified that the www.kalontripa.org is a private initiative.
At the press conference in Dharamsala on June 10, Mr. Jamphel Choesang also introduced his two colleagues, Ven. Geshe Rigzin Choedak and Mr. Chutpar Yangkho Gyal, who were appointed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama to assist the Chief Election Commissioner during the elections.
Additional Election Commissioners Ven. Geshe Rigzin Choedak is the Principal at Dolmaling nunnery and Mr. Chutpar Yangkho Gyal is the Secretary of Sheja Kundue Tsomdig, an organization of writers writing in Tibetan language.
