A personal message to Washington Tibetan Community Members,

As we come closer to the final election day of the 3rd Kalon Tripa and 15th Tibetan Parliament in Exile on Sunday, March 20, 2011, I would like to share few thoughts with the members of our  community.

Beside attending those debates, I did not do any specific campaign travels. However, I strongly feel that my home community should have an opportunity to grill me and get better understanding of my plans and thoughts, if I am elected to the Tibetan Parliament. I am glad that TAW has given me a time slot during Losar celebration on March 5. I hope that interaction will be fruitful beside having a good time.

On the general note, since this is one the most important exercise of strengthening democracy in Tibetan Exile Community as envisioned by His Holiness, it becomes the responsibility of each and every eligible Tibetans in exile to participate in this process. I am personally feeling very encouraged at the number of people registered in the voters list, over 7000 in North America and over 150 people in Seattle. That is huge figure. I hope to see large turn out on the Election Day on March 20, 2011.

As I go around participating in those debates, it gives me great sense of satisfaction and pride, if I get the opportunity to serve you. I felt rejuvenated and re-energized to work harder and do justice to your trust and confidence more ever before.

Finally, I believe that our present chithues and leaders need to be, as Tibetan saying goes, “Sam-phoepa (Intrepid in thinking), Shed-phoepa (Fearless in expressing), and Jed-phoepa (Bold in implementing). And, I would like to put this into practice as far as possible taking into consideration of the interest of broader Tibetan community as I have done by serving the Tibetan Government in Exile and the Tibetan Community over three decades.

I really appreciate your support. My election symbol is Gyaltsen as shown above and don’t forget to put the TICK on it.

Thank you for your time and attention,

Sincerely,

Tashi Namgyal

Your candidate for North America Chithue
